Lesli Devito Art Show Jan. 25 at The Hotel Indigo-Downtown St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg, Fla. (Jan 7, 2014) ― The Hotel Indigo Downtown St. Petersburg will hold a “meet the artist” open house on Saturday, January 25, from 5 to 8 p.m., celebrating its newest artist, Lesli DeVito. DeVito’s mix of country and fantasy captures pets, barnyard animals and landscapes in Americana acrylics.
When BayStar Hotel Group opened the Hotel Indigo five years ago, it dedicated the lobby to showcasing the work of local artists. After displaying the work for several months, the hotel purchases one of the pieces for its collection, relying on votes from attendees of the art show.
“Lesli’s Americana style is completely different from our previous artists,” said Ford Smith, BayStar Hotel Group President and DeVito’s brother. “Her playful landscapes and love of animals shines through, creating a fun atmosphere for the hotel.”
Now living in Charlottesville, Virginia, DeVito grew up in Tampa. She attended Plant High School, University of South Florida, and graduated Florida State University with a BFA and MFA. She studied acting at the Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota. Her works can be viewed at http://myoldcountryhouse.com/shop-my-paintings/lesli-devito-paintings-cutom-pet-portraits.
The public is invited to attend the free art show opening on Saturday, January 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Hotel Indigo-Downtown St. Petersburg, 234 Third Avenue, North. The Morean Arts Center and Pet Pal Animal Shelter in St. Petersburg are co-promoting the event. The artwork will be on display through this summer (2014).
The Hotel Indigo is owned and operated by Tampa’s BayStar Hotel Group www.baystarhotels.com, a company that acquires, develops and operates hotels throughout the southeastern United States.
